5.00 average rating (1 review)

Thomas Joseph Lavin - AKA TJ Lavin - AKA the “King of Dirt”, an all around amazing and undaunted human being that Undaunted Apparel is proud to support and represent with apparel that matters!

TJ was born on December 7, 1976 right here in Las Vegas, Nevada. He started riding bikes at two and raced BMX until he was fifteen - only to find his next passion, dirt jumping.  By nineteen his passion became his profession.

TJ Lavin’s professional racing career has resulted in winning almost every major competition including the X Games and Dew Action Sports Tour. He also holds the title of DK Dirt Circuit Champion, a champion in the Gravity Games, a European championship winner, and a CFB Champion. By 1995 TJ was crowned the “King of Dirt.” He is currently sponsored by S&M Bikes, Headrush, Monster Energy Drink, Lavs Lab, and Kicker.

TJ’s unbelievable skill and prestigious racing career is amazing, but that is not what makes him undaunted.

In 2010 Lavin was competing in a Dew Tour event in Las Vegas where he crashed and was rushed to the hospital. Due to the critical injuries he sustained, he was put into a medically induced coma and developed a case of pneumonia shortly after.

Despite his injuries, TJ would not be defeated. Lavin fought for life and started breathing on his own, following simple commands like squeezing hands or giving a thumbs-up to the doctors and was expected to make a full recovery. It took over a month but TJ recovered and returned home, undaunted.

TJ has expanded his accomplishments to music, television, and more. He even has a video game named after him: MTV Sports: T. J. Lavin’s Ultimate BMX.

Lavin taught himself how to play piano and has a recording studio in his home. He then released his own album called LAVS the First SET. He also appeared on several songs and albums including “Never Gonna Hold Me Down” (Sub Noize Souljaz album), “Watcha Want” (on the album Random Stuff by good friend and recording artist Big B), and “The Crab Shack Special” (on Tsunami Bros. album King Harbor).

In 2008, Lavin released the single “Soldier” — a tribute to his long-time friend Stephen Murray. Stephen crashed during the AST Dew Tour. He suffered a serious spinal injury during a double-backflip attempt on June 22, 2007. All sales from the single were donated to the Stephen Murray Family Fund.

TJ has also created a splash on television, hosting MTV’s The Challenge, a culmination of two shows originally titled Real World and Road Rules Challenge. The Challenge features alumni from these two shows, in addition to rookies and alumni from various reality shows competing against one another for a cash prize. The Challenge is currently hosted by T. J. Lavin. The series premiered on June 1, 1998. He also appeared on an episode of MTV’s Cribs and is the subject of the film “A Film about T. J. Lavin.”

Undaunted Apparel is proud to welcome Team TJ Lavin. Together, Corey Trimmer of Undaunted Apparel and TJ Lavin have come together to design a custom apparel line inspired by the undaunted life of TJ Lavin.
